Perhaps you've been warned that working with a design firm will come at a great price: your sanity.
Over the past 15 years, we've proven that a highly collaborative design team of passionate problem-solvers can do wonders to your marketing needs. Not to mention the quality of your sleep. Welcome to Electric Pen. We're all about creative work and very little about the drama that can come with it.
Making the Case
Branding From the Inside Out When scrolling through the Inphi site you'll see a leading edge brand representing an innovative tech firm, boldly standing apart from competitors. But that's just icing on the cake. What thrills Inphi and makes us positively giddy, is the sortable global inventory on the products page. It showcases markets, solutions and yes, products, all in one table. That's one heck of a tool for the sales force and anyone looking for the right memory buffer. We think that's exciting design.
Kinect for Windows
Sensing the FutureSoon, stores will be equipped with sensors to help you choose the perfect outfit. Cool, right? Kinect for Windows makes this possible with Apps that reach far beyond gaming. When tasked with designing the Kinect Developer Portal, we started with the ultimate strategic tool: listening. We reached out to developers across the globe, from Microsoft MVPs to eager amateurs to learn about their needs, frustrations and aspirations. From there, we peppered our walls with a fury of post-it notes and mind-mapped the site content strategy. The result is a unique and targeted experience meant to inform and inspire the K4W Dev community. We can't wait to see what these developers will dream up next.
Iterating on InnovationWhen you're in the business of network Innovations, you naturally look for a design partner that can deliver stellar creative, on strategy under tight deadlines. Over the past 2 years, the corporate communications team at Juniper has relied on Electric Pen to design and produce their executive level presentations for speaking engagements, product launches and conferences worldwide. So how do you deliver a consistent message of innovation and agility to an audience steeped in technology? Well, three things jump to mind: a nimble team of highly-skilled designers, an uncanny ability to iterate concepts quickly, and of course, the vision to produce show-stopping graphics.
Ogden Murphy Wallace
Thinking AheadEstablished in 1902, Ogden Murphy Wallace is one of the most respected Legal firms in Seattle. And of course, with strong legacy comes incredible foresight into the future. With that in mind we set out to rebrand the firm, updating logo and brand identity along with a fresh new website. The result is a dynamic system that translates throughout communications, from business papers to the signs on conference room doors.
Got a Startup?Have we got a reference site for you: Leading law firm Perkins Coie gathered a wealth of resources and free tools to help bootstrap your latest invention. They call it The Startup Percolator. When creating this unique reference site, we let the old inspire the new: iconic etchings send a nod to past inventions, while fresh content leaps forward with parallax scrolling and bold typography.
Rekdal, Hopkins Howard, PS (RH2)
How it All Adds UpWhat do you do when you realize it's time to start your own firm? You turn to a brand design firm to help you develop the tools to communicate your message and expertise. Accounting firm RH2 did just that. They looked to Electric Pen to establish their visual identity and brand messaging with implementation across channels. Three years later, they are a thriving firm with a flourishing client base and we are thrilled with their continued success.
Vive la différence
How do we tell your unique story? We can flood you with models and processes that lead to spot on strategies (they actually do). But truly, the most effective tool we rely on day in and day out is listening. We listen to your needs, your goals, your plans and pain points in search of strategic insight. Then we get to work, prototyping ideas, iterating on them until we achieve desired objectives. If you've got a challenge for us, we're all ears.

Like many successful businesses, Electric Pen began in a garage.
More specifically, it began 15 years ago when John Pletsch launched the company in the garage of his North Seattle home. Until then, he’d carved out a design career in the technology and professional services sectors. But the entrepreneur bug bit him big time. He decided to build an agency that would provide not only graphic design services but also multi-disciplinary creative services deeply rooted in client strategy. Eventually, the new firm outgrew the garage.
Today it has more than a dozen creative professionals working in Electric Pen’s headquarters in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood. And the garage? Electric Pen is long gone. But John still can’t park a car there; the garage is now his oldest daughter’s bedroom.
